I think I can make a reservation. Since I was a table seat, I do not know if there is a private room, but would you like to confirm it at the time of booking?
I think it's open. There are many delicious tempura bowls in Asakusa. I think the taste is too strong here. If you want crispy can go to another store
No smoking
Usually visit this delicious tempura shop when at Asakusa during our trip. Friendly staffs and like how they prepare and serve us the green tea. Tempura doesn’t disappoint. We visited during dinner time and less crowd.
The tempura here is soaked in delicious, sweet sauce so it's not the usual crunchy tempura style. But it tastes heavenly!
Fried is not crispy just really soft! I think it is a traditional Japanese restaurant
Tasty tempura set, though tempura was soaked with sauce so don't expect it to be cripsy.
Local place with a long history. Seems that the locals love what it's serving up. If you prefer your tempura crunchy on the outside, don't order the tendon. They soak it in sauce after they fry it, hence the soggy appearance. Go for the set meals if you like it regular crispy. As for taste, I'd say that I personally found it ok. Tasty, but nothing too overwhelming. The experience was pleasant and service is friendly and prompt.Again, the locals dig it so be prepared to come early for wait in line.
Said to be ‘the’ place for tempura in this parts and came highly recommended. Check out the menu posted. Available in English. A very old eatery this one and friendly staff inside. Don’t let the exterior intimidate you.
Pretty good tempura here. Ordered a set that included tempura and a soup and another side for 2100 yen. Tempura was nicely cooked and fresh so was happy with that. Serving size was also pretty generous so you don't need to order much. Place only takes cash though.
TENDON is rich and delicious, price is not expensive, it's worth to visit.
We were just walked out of the place. I was with a friend and she had already eaten somewhere else. I ordered something for me and they said both had to order or we had to go.. I explain she was not hungry and she is gluten intolerant I...only I wanted to try tempora.. they kicked us out.. I wanted to punch the waiter tbh. Very rude !I could understand if there was a huge line outside or if the place was packed but the place was empty.
trully delicious! i visited daikokunya with my friend, and we was lucky because the queue is not long, usually, this place need to do long queue
Very good food and transitional place. Lots locals come to here.
The shrimp is cold and the sauce is too bitter
The tempura is great, although a little bit expensive for its serving size. I enjoyed it though.
The taste n freshest is below average. I expected above average standard because of its fame but I was disappointed.
Rather disappointed, I usually visit here whenever I visit Tokyo. The standard has drop, hopefully my next visit to Tokyo you guys will maintain the standard it used to have. Sob sob.
food is ok and very tranditonal Japanese style.
Atmosphere is better than at your average tendon place - food however is not much better. This is not acceptable at this price.
Simply just don't like it... Do not order tendon is you expect crispy tempura...
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, but the tempura was alright at best.
Great place for fast Japanese food and warm sake during the winter time! An English menu us offered.
If you are looking for different style of EBI (prawn) tempura, traditional old Japanese style, this place will not disappoint you in terms of tasty of fresh prawn on top by old style sauce. Wanna eat crispy light brown tempura, pls check the other place. Apart from quite expensive price in compare with modern tempura style, it is recommended to try it. You will like the food and environment sitting on tatami eating Ebi-tendon ^^
Got cheated by the good review and sorry to despised the bad review. Worst tendon. It’s dark, soggy and expensive! The extra star is for the tempura though it’s still consider very expensive. Should have just settle for a dinner at the restaurant just outside the metro station, way much cheaper. We weren’t allowed to share food thus we have to ordered a tendon and a tempura that cost total 3800¥ !!!
Expensive and soggy. Overrated
oriental soy sauce tastes
It’s hard to find a bad meal in Japan but after a month, I found this place. Soggy tempura at a higher price than paid elsewhere. Staff are rude and don’t seem to want you there.
Cheap and tasty traditional Japanese food. Recommended
A little salty and frieds were soaking by soy source made the food too soft...I can’t eat the crispy fried food...
Batter is different from other tempura which I have tried, nonetheless, it was delicious and love the sauce that goes with the fried prawn and rice.
Biggest and best Tempura Prawns ever.
I dont get the fuss about this place. Maybe it's a traditional place. I got the tendon but as other reviews say...tempura is soggy. There isn't much flavour from the fish. I don't know how fresh it is. Dont think it's great value for money. Probably liked by people who like the sauce...not very sweet, thick sauce.
best tempura i had in my life
The atmosphere is great but i personally think its sauce is too sweet that the tempura got too damp i got tired after having several bites. But I understand it’s their recipe style, its just not my type of tempura or tendon im looking for
The tendon ebi is not so fresh and the taste is not that great. Maybe it is just famous for it’s long history.
Hands down the best tempura I’ve ever had. Not the biggest fish fan and was disappointed the bowl was all fish and no veg - however my tune quickly changed as I got into the bowl. Amazing.
Been living in Japan 6 years, touristy scam, worst tenpura i ever had, even 天や 天丼 is better, left most of my meal untouched.
Queues were long but quick to clear. Queued for a good 20mins before allowed in, and was ushered to upstairs seating. The tempura that came looked quite burnt but it was so delicious and fragrant! Totally worth the price and queue!
Quite unique for the tempura seasoning, but not too special for me. Their service was good and friendly.
Overpriced soggy tempura. I had a feeling that it was fried in the morning and we ate it for lunch. Would not recommend.
The tempura tasted too dark and not cruchy, not worth the price. Better go to chain tempura shop.
Waited for 1 hr. Dissapointed with the taste... only soya taste... the prawns tastes flat....
A bit pricey, but had delicious Tendon. Really hard to get a seat at lunch time. Maybe easier in the evening. Worth trying if you are in Asakusa.
Very best tempra restaurant in Japan. It's totally for locals but stuffs are nice enough to try to understand English and give advise. Their tendon ( tempra bowl) is the best and their sause makes it deep taste more. Little bit hard to find and long lineup but worth the wait! Also it's very reasonable place.
Good but not excellent tempuras in a nice place.
This is over 100 years old tempura restaurant. The ebi tempura is very good. Staff are all elders (at least when I went there) but understand and speak English well. They have English menu and the price is not expensive. I went in the evening on weekday, no waiting.
Great TENDON - FRIED shrimp rice bowl.Price is not expensive but reasonable. So delicious, not so crowded.Prepare to line up or make reservation ahead if you had Japanese speaking friend.Staff here seems nice and friendly.Near by the temple, take 5 minutes to find it.
Delicious food and nice service.
Best shrimp tempura I had in my life. A wonderful experience you have to try. They only have seafood tempura and pickled vegerables and they don't talk english but it worth it.
Awful service. They were incredibly rude about us needing more time to order. Then when we wanted to share an order because we had already eaten but wanted to enjoy a few pieces of tempura they would not let us order. They even complained about the fact that we drank the tea that they served us. Unbelievable!
Love the rice and source for tempura. This is the list visit place for our family when visiting Tokyo!
Decent small tempura place. Fuss free. Restaurant prices.
